Grada Kilomba, Labyrinth, 2024, large-scale textile installation, cotton fabric, dimensions variable.

Labyrinth (2024) is a monumental spatial textile installation, in which the artist Grada Kilomba alludes to the complex routes and the ongoing quest for freedom and movement. The delicate material contrasts with the emergencies of the now, creating a space of escape, refuge, shadow, light, orientation and silence. The idea of entering the gallery room through a route, is formed by Kilomba as a gesture to invoke reflections on historical trauma, violence and repetition - challenging the linear progression of time. Through the use of black cotton fabric, Kilomba underscores her focus on natural materials, embedding historical narratives within the tangible.
